Parents: Some Advices (Willard, 2006)

Keep the pc in a room of the house that is used by everyone in the family.

Check on a regular basis what your son/daughter is doing.

Talk to him/her about what kind of online activities he/she likes.

Tell your son/daughter very clearly that you will regularly check the files on the computer, the browser history and all the online activities which have been carried out.

Look for your son/daughter’s name online,

check his/her profiles and messages that he/she posted to teenagers’ websites.

Go through all the web pages and the most attended blogs.

Tell your son/daughter that you might review his/her ways of private communication online should you have any doubts about whether he/she is being responsible or having a not careful behaviour.

Watch out against a sort of behaviour which suggests something is being hidden such as a quick change of page on the pc when you go into the room or an attempt to delete the history of the web pages that have been visited.
